“The Elements drawings… are in a sense metaphors for scale and for time (the other dimension of space). Like mathematical systems, they are elements, essences, reproducible at any size. They can be used in the building in Tokyo, in a London street, on the walls of a gallery or as tiny prints. Like found objects they are transportable; but the experience of the works is specific, rooted in a particular time and place.” Caroline Collier

36 Elements: Glass Wall is a 50 ft high structural glass wall for the new Marunouchi Building in Tokyo. It is sandblasted and etched with 36 drawings from the Elements series. The glass wall of images is reflected in a narrow ‘reflecting-pool’ at its base giving it the appearance of passing through the building. The Glass Wall divides the Hanging Garden on floor 5 from the escalators on floors 5 – 8 of the Marunouchi Building at Tokyo Station with a dimension of 14 x 14.6 x 3 m.
